Dartry Road
Brief
The sensitive renovation and complete redecoration of a Victorian six-bedroom house into a comfortable family home without sacrificing its original features.
Solution
The re-design of the upper floor layout to include two guest bedrooms and a guest bathroom. The installation of double glazed replica sash windows in place of poorly fitted PVC windows and the insulation of suspended timber floors to eliminate drafts. The repair of interior plasterwork due to water damage from roof.
The redecoration included the careful selection of paint shades in a number of neutral tones for walls, ceilings, dado rails and cornicing to emphasise the building’s beautiful proportions and showcase its original features and architectural details. Carpets, curtains and blinds, furniture, fitted wardrobes, lighting, linens, cushions and throws were also sourced and installed, creating a stylish look that would not date. The children’s rooms were redecorated with imaginative colour schemes, creative, interactive play areas, novelty lighting, and clever storage ideas. A seventies tiled fireplace was given new life and repainted in candy stripes.
